Losing The Durant Trade

At what point are we going to admit that the Suns lost the Durant trade?

Phoenix sits at 10th in the West…and none of it is Durant’s fault.

In fact, the opposite.

He’s been excellent on both ends.

He leads the team in points, minutes and blocks.

KD is 35 years old, shooting a ridiculous 47% from three.

It’s the best of his career and it STILL seems like the Suns gave up too much for him.

They gutted their future and depth to land him.

Every team deals with injuries, but the Suns struggle to plug guys in…

Because they’re not on the team anymore.

Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and Jae Crowder all played big time minutes in their Finals run.

Today their wings are Grayson Allen, and Josh Okogie…

Not great.

Now the 1st rounders are different story, but the Suns gave up 4 of them for KD.

Chances are those won’t be lottery picks, but Phoenix needs guys and they’re out of money.

Not only is drafting guys to replace Bridges and Cam Johnson not an option, but neither is signing them.

They’re already over the luxury tax with a team payroll of $188 million.

Again do not get this twisted, this has nothing to do with KD’s performance.

Sometimes a team is better off being deep and well rounded, than shallow and top heavy.

It’s extremely rare that the team who trades for the superstar loses the trade…

But the Suns may have pulled it off.
