NFL Needs To Learn From Vikings 🧠

The NFL Can Learn From The Vikings

The Minnesota Vikings are removing their old (and dangerous) turf in favor of newer/safer model.

This comes after several high profile injuries on the field this year.

Justin Jefferson and Travis Kelce both went down with non-contact injuries in Week 5.

The NFL prides themself on putting player safety first.

It’s a tough sell.

A study done by the NFLPA found that…

“On turf compared to grass, players have a 32% higher rate of non-contact knee injuries and a staggering 69% higher rate of non-contact foot/ankle injuries”

14 NFL fields use turf and it’s not complicated as to why.

It’s low-maintenance and cost-effective

Players have been decimated by the turf monsters for years.

Randall Cobb sounded off saying…

“We wanted the NFL to protect the players with grass fields, but the NFL is more worried about making money. Profit over people. It’s always been the case”

Keep in mind, we’re talking about a league that did $18 Billion in revenue last year.

Football is inherently a violent sport and nobody wants to see it become 2 hand touch.

For the majority of the 21st century, the NFL has completely ignored the easiest way to make the game safer…

Remove turf fields.

More specifically, the kind the Vikings had (slit-film turf)..

The dated turf is still used in Indianapolis and Cincinnati.

The Colts have made plans to change, but the Bengals haven’t committed to any alterations.
