Why The NBA MVP Is Broken 🏀

The MVP Is Broken

How Luka Doncic is being treated right now makes zero sense.

In 10 years, we’ll to look back and scratch our heads.

A season like this might never happen again.

In 77 years of the NBA nobody has sniffed a stat line like Luka’s.

(34 points, 10 assists, 9 rebounds)

For most of the season the knock was…well the Mavs aren’t winning games.

Can’t say that anymore.

They’re the hottest team in the NBA.

They’ve won 7 straight (including the last 4 on the road).

In their most recent dub, Luka scorched the Rockets with 47 points to snap their 11 game win streak.

We’ve reached a point in the NBA MVP discussion where the voting criteria doesn’t make sense anymore.

I understand Jokic is a unicorn (he’s still my favorite player to watch) and the Nuggets are a level above the Mavs, but they’re not setting the league on fire.

They’re not even alone on top of the West (tied with OKC for 1st).

If you take a look at the MVP odds, it becomes very clear that not only will Doncic not win…he won’t receive a single first place vote.

I’m not saying we shouldn’t value team success.

It should matter, but we’ve gone too far.

If I was a voter and Luka had a monster season for a play-in team…I wouldn’t vote for him.

That’s not the case here.

They’re the hottest team in the league, he’s putting up a season for the ages…

And he deserves votes.
