Anyone bashing Jon Rahm for taking $500 million to join LIV is either ignorant, jealous or both.

People love to pretend they’re morally superior, but they forget this isn’t just golf…it’s professional golf.

Maybe it’s just a game or something fun to watch on TV to the fans, but this is a career path.

It sounds obvious, but 99% of people (regardless of their industry) are interested in maximizing career earnings.

Rahm is 3rd in the world and has taken home $51 million in prize money.

If you’re somehow surprised he wants to multiply that by 10 (and still compete in the majors) then all I can do is explain it to you like this:

First, that’s life changing money.

Stop pretending like you’d turn that down without even thinking about it.

Second, there are moral boundaries at play, but even the PGA Tour has crossed them.

They’re likely to finalize the LIV merger by the end of the calendar year.

Third, this does not make Rahm a bad person or a sellout…it makes him smart.

He sees where the game is going and he’s accepting a $500 million check to head there early.

If the PGA is frustrated by this, they have nobody to blame but themselves.

They should have been offering players a larger piece of the pie decades ago.

The fact that Rahm has 73 top 10’s, 11 wins and 2 majors…

But has just $51 million over 8 years to show for it is exactly why this deal is going through.
