I created a viral mini game
This past weekend I locked in and decided to build a game from scratch.
I’ve been playing a daily geography game called MapTap for weeks and I had an idea for a sports version.
I know almost nothing about software engineering, but I’m decent with Claude, so I fired up “Claude Code” and we got to work.
I was thoroughly enjoying the process. I went back and forth hundreds of times with Claude as we made iterations and refined the flow.
12 hours later I had a playable game that I named GeoSports and I shipped it immediately.
Day 1 we had 79 players.
Day 2 we had 575 players.
And then something shocking happened today, day 3…
Kendall Baker authors one of the most popular daily sports newsletters in the country.
Lucky for me, Kendall loves geography almost as much as he loves sports and dedicated a chunk of his newsletter to the game.
Before noon today, GeoSports passed 4k daily active players.
The game is completely frictionless and quick.
At no point does it require an email or phone number and it takes less than a minute to get your daily score.
Below is a link if you want to test your sports geography skills and throw your name on the daily leaderboard.
