Anthony Edwards Could Be Your MVP 🏆

Anthony Edwards For MVP

Imagine someone telling you this a month ago…

“The Wolves are in 1st place and Anthony Edwards is a legitimate MVP candidate.”

...you would have laughed them off.

Ant is 22 years old - we may not be treated to his peak prime until 2030.

Let’s talk about right now though.

Admittedly, Ant’s numbers aren’t strong enough to make him a favorite right now.

He’s putting up 27/6/5 on 46% from the field and 37% from deep.

You’d miss the point if you simply ran the numbers. The man looks, feels (and pretty much is) unstoppable.

Most polls have him hovering around 7th. Below is the latest from ESPN:

  1. Jokic (+200)

  2. Doncic (+400)

  3. Embiid (+750)

  4. Tatum (+800)

  5. Giannis (+1000)

  6. Shai (+2000)

  7. Edwards (+2500)

  8. Haliburton (+4000)

If the following 3 bullets come to fruition…Anthony Edwards will be your MVP.

  1. Maintain Western Dominance

The best player on the best team always get a strong look.

The current polls almost seem to predict the T-Wolves implosion.

1st place would be great, but if they can finish top 3 - everything becomes real.

  1. Win the In-Season Tournament

Don’t forget MVP votes are equally about performance and narratives.

You need a couple signature moments that stick with voters.

Sidenote: A voter could argue he already had his first moment after dropping 38 points (and locking up Tatum) in an overtime win over Boston.

Winning the inaugural In-Season Tourney would be a power statement for Ant.

  1. Efficiency

Ant needs to get put a few more numbers on the board.

A slight bump from 27/6/5 to 28/7/6 would be big, but even bigger would be the efficiency bump.

Voters eat this up. Right now Ant is 46% from the field…while SGA is 53%.

If Ant shoots 50% from the field AND the previous 2 points come true…wrap it up. The award is his.

He’ll join Derrick Rose and Wes Unseld as the only players 22 years or younger to win NBA MVP.
